Yum Jung Ah, Oh Na Ra, & Kim Jung Eun consider JTBC’s “Princess Maker”

Oh, consider me intrigued!  JTBC just announced its newest kdrama, “Princess Maker,” and already casting offers are flying. Top talents Yum Jung Ah(Mirror of the Witch), Oh Na Ra(My Ajusshi), and Kim Jung Eun(Duel) are considering the leading female roles.  While the PD from “Mirror of the Witch” (Jo Hyun Tak) has already signed on to direct, and the writer from Bridal Mask has been brought in to write the script.

“Princess Maker” will be a dark comedy about a group of wealthy mothers living on the outskirts of Seoul.  They will represent the top 1% of prestigious families and backgrounds.  The drama will follow their lives as they try to help their children pass the college entrance exams and turn them into third generation “princes” and “princesses” — that is, the Korean equivalent: doctors and lawyers.

In talks for the leading role is Kim Jung Eun, the lead actress from last year’s clone drama “Duel.”  Unlike her role in “Duel,” Kim Jung Eun is best known for her comedic acting.  Hopes are high that she will bring a lot of energy and fun to her performance in “Princess Maker.”

An exceptional character actress, Oh Na Ra is also considering a role as one of the famous mothers.  Her previous roles include parts in “My Ajusshi,” “Man to Man,” “Remember,” and “Yong-Pal” among many others.

This will be the second collaboration between Yum Jung Ah and PD Jo Hyun Tak.  Their first drama together, “Mirror of the Witch” was notable for bringing us one of the most memorable villans of the year, played by Yum Jung Ah.  Yum Jung Ah did an incredible job at making us hate her guts.  She is currently considering a role as one of the prestigious mothers in “Princess Maker.”

“Princess Maker” is in talks to air in JTBC’s Friday/Saturday slot this fall after “Third Charm,” after currently airing drama “My ID Is Gangnam Beauty.”

Update 08/13/2018: Kim Jung Eun has denied her role.
