Search: WWW Episode 2 Recap
The episode picks up where the last episode left off. A little flustered, a little flirty, and everybody needs a drink of something to cool down. Bae Ta Mi(Im Soo Jung) heads over to the Unicon café for an iced coffee after her encounter with former one-night-stand, Park Morgan(Jang Ki Yong).
Ignoring Ta Mi’s babble, Jo Ah Ra(Oh Ah Yun) reminds her that she has bigger things to worry about than bumping into a former flame.
Director Song(Jun Hye Jin) calls Bae Ta Mi up to her office where she sees a ring sitting on the Director’s desk. The ring reminds Ta Mi of happier times when the two were working in the trenches together. They had worked together to come up with a list of rules and ethics to govern the web portal they helped to build up.
Back in the present
The two women stare each other down. Director Song wants to know how Bae Ta Mi discovered the congressman’s scandal, so Ta Mi recounts the way she tracked his email addresses through his phone number. They argue about the legality of what she has done, and Ta Mi suggests the Director has been using the company’s resources to help out her mother-in-law’s company. At that, Director Song warns Ta Mi that her actions will have consequences.
Out for a walk, Bae Ta Mi ignores a call coming in from a name she doesn’t recognize. Standing nearby, Park Morgan holds up a phone and asks her why she didn’t answer. She then remembers him putting his number into her phone.
They discuss the night that they met. Ta Mi says that their night together was nothing more than a mistake, but Morgan does not feel the same way.
Back at the office, Park Morgan’s associates pretend to be working and ask him how the meeting went. Upon seeing the lipstick mark on Morgan’s shirt, his colleague offers to attend future meetings in Morgan’s place.
Meanwhile
Scarlett(Lee Da Hee) and her boss from Barro are attending a debate about the Internet rules and regulations. Scarlet and Ta Mi argue over internet cafes where illegal activities are pursued.
Scarlett appears to lose the debate to Ta Mi, and Scarlett does not like to lose
While Scarlett lets off some steam, her boss Brian(Kwon Hae Hyo) is offering Bae Ta Mi a job at Barro. She thinks back to her interview at Unicon and all the years she has spent with the company and turns the offer down.
Back in the present, Bae Ta Mi sits before a discipline board in a scene reflective of the one from all those years ago.
Ta Mi has been expecting the discipline. She expects that she will be getting demoted. When she gets fired instead, she appeals to Director Song as a colleague and former friend.
What follows is a classic “you can’t fire me, I quit!” situation. Bae Ta Mi hands over a resignation letter she had prepared just in case.
Meanwhile back at the ranch (literally, this place looks like a fancy resort ranch, the Oh family has MONEY), evil mother-in-law Jung Hee Eun(Ye Soo Jung) is busy bribing senators and throwing fits at her daughter-in-law over firing Bae Ta Mi.
Later that night
Director Song goes to drown her sorrows at a host bar. The manager offers up one of his newest recruits to keep her company since her former favorite has left to become an actor. Offended by the newbie’s casual remarks about her age, Song Ga Gyeong is unimpressed by the offering and punishes the young man.
The next morning
A ringing alarm causes Bae Ta Mi to leap out of bed. She remembers that she’s unemployed and has nowhere to go. Ta Mi is not very good at having no schedule.
At Barro, Scarlett rages that the company is still coming in second to the corrupt Unicon. She confronts her boss and he mentions his plan to create a task force to help Barro beat Unicon. Meanwhile, the very bored Ta Mi contacts her piano-playing friend, Jung Da In(Han Ji Wan), in order to begin taking piano lessons.
At yet another meeting with the gaming department at Unicon, Park Morgan asks Director Song about Bae Ta Mi and discovers that she’s been fired. He remembers the night they met and the way Ta Mi spoke about her boss.
Morgan tries to call Ta Mi and seems surprised when the call is answered. We next see him entering a bar where a very drunk Ta Mi is trying to feed rice to a dead fish. He tries to take her home.
As they leave the bar, Ta Mi wonders again why Morgan is there. She tells him that she’s too old for booty calls, and just wants to be like two ships who passed in the night and moved on. But Morgan tells her that he wants to be more than that to her. *flirting intensifies again*
Terminology Time Out
Park Morgan’s fish tank analogy is going to show up a lot in this drama. If you’re new to KDramas you might not have heard the reference before. Basically, in the dating world, someone who keeps a fish tank is a flirt. They hook a lot of potential mates, but don’t make any of them official or permanent. Morgan is telling Ta Mi that he doesn’t mind just keeping her company for now, it doesn’t have to be something serious.
Resume Recap
Arriving home, Bae Ta Mi finds Director Song waiting for her. Director Song returns the unprocessed resignation letter and tells Ta Mi that the record will say she was fired anyway.
Bae Ta Mi has been called in to testify regarding the congressman’s underage prostitutes. She runs into the congressman at the courthouse. He smirks and sneers, but she stands her ground like a boss.
After testifying, Bae Ta Mi makes a phone call to Barro and confidently accepts their job offer. She then returns to Unicon to collect both her things and any employees who might want to come with her. Team Leader Choi decides to follow her to Barro, but Ta Mi has one more person in mind.
Before leaving Unicon
Bae Ta Mi posts a letter to the company boards. The letter contains that code of ethics that she wrote with Director Song. Ethics that Unicon has begun to ignore.
When Bae Ta Mi and her crew head across the street to Barro, they discover a completely different world from the one they just left. Casual clothing, lounge areas, skateboards in the foyer… Barro’s work environment is much more relaxed than what they expected. Choi Bong Ki(Woo Ji Hyun) is in heaven.
The Unicon crew bumps into Scarlett coming off the elevator. Scarlett is confused but quickly connects the dots when she learns that Ta Mi has been fired from their rival. She bursts into a meeting between CEO Brian and the former Unicon employees. Brian announces that together they will form his new Service Care task force team. But Scarlett is not having it.
She storms out of the room and Ta Mi goes after her. Ta Mi tells Scarlett that she wants her on the team.
The two women come to an arrangement. They agree to work together for 6 months. If Barro is not beating Unicon by then, Ta Mi agrees to quit.
Suddenly, Director Song comes storming onto the scene. She is very angry over the message that Ta Mi left all over the message boards at Unicon. The confrontation escalates into violence, and the episode closes with the 3 women staring each other down after Song Ga Gyeong slaps Ta Mi across the face.
Final Thoughts:
This drama just keeps on getting better and better. I can’t wait to see where these three women are heading together. They are strong and confident and good at their jobs. The romance between Bae Ta Mi and Park Morgan is smoldering slowly despite its quick start. Jang Ki Yong’s character is mature and intelligent and knows what he wants but is respectful of the boundaries set before him.
