Breaking News! Park Bo Gum and Song Hye Gyo confirmed for Kdrama “Boyfriend”
This is happening people! Park Bo Gum and Song Hye Gyo have confirmed that they will be starring as the lead couple in upcoming kdrama “Boyfriend.” (Okay, let’s take a moment to let all the Bogummie’s calm down. Hehe.) This will mark the first performance by Song Hye Gyo since her marriage to Song Joon Ki last year, and Park Bo Gum’s first drama since Moonlight Drawn By Clouds. To say that we are excited to see them back is like saying Christmas is “just a day of the year.”
“Boyfriend” chronicles the story of a woman, Cha Soo Hyun, who has been forced into a convenience marriage with a wealthy heir to further her father’s political career. After having his child, the woman decides to reclaim her life and gets a divorce from the husband she never loved. Ultimately, she meets Kim Jin Hyuk(Park Bo Gum), an young man with the precious gift of enjoying life and her world begins to change — although maybe not for the better. Their love story is described as “heart-wrenching” and “wreaking havoc on their lives.” This is all sounding so sad; I’m really hoping that it turns out to be more heart warming and less me emptying an entire box of tissues.
Aside from the star power, this drama also has the added allure of being from the production company behind currently airing drama, “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?” which has been this summer’s most adorable drama, imo. However, I have reservations about the choice for director and writer. Directing is Park Shin-Woo; whose previous works include both fun filled “Jealousy Incarnate” and the dismal failure “Hyde, Jekyl and Me.” I am choosing to give Park Shin-Woo the benefit of the doubt, since maybe Hyde, Jekyl and Me was uneven due primarily to poor writing…maybe. However, the writer joining “Boyfriend” is none other than Yoo Young-A, the writer from “The Entertainer” and “Bel Ami,” both dramas that fell short of their potential. Having this writer attached to the drama would be enough to sending me fleeing back to a rerun of “She Was Pretty,” except that I have a lot of faith in Park Bo Gum’s ability to choose good dramas. Up to now, he hasn’t choosen a complete dud (I’m forgiving Tomorrow Cantabile, because I actually liked some of it.) So for now, I’m holding my fingers crossed.
“Boyfriend” is set to air late in 2018 and is currently in position to grab a December slot.

Looks like a noona romance from synopsis or maybe not. Anyway it’s troublesome when kdrama couple are not atleast one person’s first love/relationship. Anyways it will take a lot of time until it will air.

It does sound like we will be getting a noona romance with this drama; which is a relief, since earlier descriptions didn’t have any mention of age and made it seem like they might ignore the age gap between Song Hye Gyo and Park Bo Gum completely — which would have been awkward to say the least.
