Yoon Doo Joon’s Sudden Enlistment May Mean Disaster for “Let’s Eat 3”

Well, we called it.  In a startling turn of events, Yoon Doo Joon’s agency revealed that the “Let’s Eat 3” star will be enlisting at the end of this week. While his draft notice was expected, no one thought it would happen so soon — especially not in the midst of filming.  However, plans abruptly switched after South Korea’s recent enlistment laws changed.

This is not the first time an actor has had to halt production because of a draft notice.  Famously, Lee Joon Gi was forced to resign after being cast in the sageuk drama “Faith” and shooting some of the movie “Grand Prix.”  Both the drama and movie had to recast with new actors.

Currently, Yoon Doo Joon’s agency is trying to get his enlistment postponed so he can finish filming for the drama.  However, the production team is also preparing for the worst.  Work is desperately underway to finish the drama’s storyline before the loss of their lead actor.  It is sadly expected that “Let’s Eat 3” may be cut short at episode 14.

No doubt Doo Joon feels terrible about the trouble he is bringing to his production team.  But what can he do?  Nothing at all.

“Let’s Eat 3” tells the fun and quirky tale of two long estranged friends reconnecting over food.

Yoon Doo Joon is only the first among a multitude of Korean men affected by the recent change in Korea’s military requirements.  Up until now, Korean men could postpone their enlistment until the age of 30, but this month’s changes have abruptly lowered the required age to 28.  Many famous actors and idols who had expected to postpone their enlistment are now being forced to enlist.

Here’s hoping that Yoon Doo Joon’s agency will be successful and he can complete filming.

Update 08/23/2018:

Yoon Do Joon has confirmed in a personal letter to his fans that he will be enlisting this Friday, August 24.
