Kang Min Hyuk, Lee Jung Shin Enlist Today

Well, it’s happened.

They’ve left us.

Kang Min Hyuk and Lee Jung Shin bravely enlisted in the Korean military today, and for the next two years we will be without their infectious smiles and sculpted jawlines.  (I’m missing those jawlines already)

Before leaving Lee Jung Shin(My First Love) and Kang Min Hyuk(Hospital Ship) each blessed us with videos and photos of their new military style haircuts and sad “goodbyes.”

Even in his “after haircut” video Lee Jung Shin can’t hold back the swag.

But perhaps the hardest to watch is this video of Lee Jung Shin saying “goodbye” to his beloved dog Simba.  “What shall I do [without you?]” He asks at the end.

심바야~~~할머니랑 운동 열심히해라~❤️❤️❤️😊 #아이러너 맘에드는군

For his “after haircut” photo Kang Min Hyuk comments “I’m leaving, but I’ll see you again.”

The CNBlue members enlisted at the same time, although in different locations.  Their agency, FNC Entertainment, strongly emphasized that the artists wished to enlist quietly and without media attention.

But the biggest surprise came later.  In addition to Kang Min Hyuk and Lee Jung Shin’s enlistment, it was announced today that fellow CNBlue member, Lee Jong Hyun, will also be joining the service in August.  Jonghyun is the final CNBlue member to enlist, since Yongwha entered last March.

Korean military service typically runs for about 24 months, including training before final assignment, although there are slight variations depending on which branch of service draftees are assigned to.  So a safe guesstimate is that we will see our boys again around July 2020.
