In honor of DramaCurrent’s two month anniversary, I wanted to share something very special as a thank you to you, my wonderful Kdrama family, for your support. I finally landed on my ranking for every Kdrama I’ve ever watched, because it is the most personal look into my Kdrama obsession that I could share. Warning: I can be very biased to my favorites — but then who isn’t? But since we are all kdrama lovers at heart, I hope you will take this for the fun that was intended and maybe even chime in with your Kdrama favs below.

Without further ado, here is my very biased list of every Kdrama I’ve ever seen.

Are You Human Too?

Why: OHMYGAWSH, I love everything about this drama. I love the Pinocchio robot who just wants to be human and his bossy bodyguard. I love how his face lights up everytime he sees his mom or whenever someone says he did well. Or when he hugs everyone who cries or when he can see through everyone’s lies with a touch of his hand, or…okay, I’m noticing a pattern here. I love Nam Shin III. Busted.

Rewatch Value: Likely

Why: This drama and its close-up look at day-to-day life in the 90’s is like a warm hug from a friend. I love that it isn’t afraid to share personal, normal moments between its characters, like when Jung Eun Ji accidently hands Seo In Guk the menstral pad out of her purse or when a game of “Go Stop” between her parents becomes a vicious competition. The characters themselves are like real people I might know, or wish that I could know. At the end of this show I was so sad to leave the happy little family in Busan.

What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim?

Rewatch Value: Highly Likely

Why: I really fell in love with this drama hard. I thought the acting was exceptional; the chemistry between the main leads was electric; the use of secondary characters for comedy was fun and quirky; and the story, although not extensive, was the perfect feel good story. I can easily see this one becoming one of the dramas that I revisit on a bad day.

Why: This drama hit me in all the right ways. First, I loved the way the drama examined life from an honest perspective (similar to the style of the Reply Series.) Then I loved the relationships between the lead couples. and the new take on the familiar co-habitation trope. But what I loved the most was that the lead couple acted like grown-ups. Instead of letting things get out of hand with misunderstandings, they handled them like normal people and talked about them. How refreshing. But the rewatch value is low because, although I loved watching the drama, the pace was slow enough that it wouldn’t make for a quick rewatch.

Note: I did not include reasons why for dramas watched before 2018, because it has been so long since I watched them that my memory will taint my reviews. Hopefully, I will be able to go back and fill in the rest in the future as I rewatch them.
