We’ve reached the halfway point of our recap of female-centric drama, Search: WWW. Work and relationships all really start rolling for our three favourite ladies.

Search: WWW Recap Episode 8

We start with a flashback showing us more of the early friendship between Cha Hyeon and Song Ga Gyeong as school girls.

The flashback shows how Cha Hyeon injured her shoulder and lost her dream of competitive judo. While skipping school, Ga Gyeong was attacked by a gang of boys. Cha Hyeon came to her rescue and was seriously injured.

Present Day

Song Ga Gyeong has agreed to let go of webtoonist Go Do Ri, but in exchange she wants Cha Hyeon to leave Barro and come work at Unicon. Cha Hyeon tells Ta Mi to leave so that she can speak with Ga Gyeong privately.

Cha Hyeon remembers how Ga Gyeong took responsibility for her lost dream. Ga Gyeong tutored young Cha Hyeon, helping her to get into a good school and fostering a new dream to replace the judo dream that had been lost. She remembers fondly the way that Ga Gyeong changed her life and wonders if she can do the same for her old friend.

Coming outside, Scarlet tells Tammy that they need to come up with a different way to get Go Do Ri.

Later that evening

Tammy is contemplating the evidence she has against Oh Jin Woo when she gets a message from Morgan asking if she’s off work yet. When she responds that she’s still in the office, her desk phone rings. It’s security letting her know that Morgan is on his way up. Tammy quickly tidies her office and sets a romantic mood.

Morgan has brought Ta Mi a coffee and asks if he can wait in the office until she’s done. Ta Mi agrees but finds herself very distracted.

Morgan decides to leave so he doesn’t distract her, but Ta Mi offers to drive him. She’s worried for the safety of a young man walking the street dressed so suggestively.

In the car

Morgan tells Ta Mi that he had an ulterior motive for coming to her office all tarted up. He was afraid that she might be draining the water out of her fish tank. When Morgan gets his tarted-up self out of the car, Ta Mi realizes that she’s a goner.

At the hospital

On a trip to visit her actor in the hospital, Cha Hyeon bumps into her former boyfriend. The conversation is awkward and rude and threatens to become violent on Cha Hyeon’s end.

She continues on to Seol Ji Hwan’s room and finds him asleep. When he wakes up and sees Cha Hyeon he thinks that he is still dreaming.

At Barro

Scarlett looks up videos of cankerworms after Seol Ji Hwan told her that they were his favourite insect.

She asks Alex what his favourite insect is and then starts asking him if he knows anybody in this day and age who still has a flip phone. He replies that a person with a flip phone must be weird, and then notices that CEO Brian is on the trending list. He’s posted Barro’s apology over the tangsooyuk pouring emoticon.

To celebrate the success of Scarlett’s plan to get young people talking about and using Barro more, Brian suggests a team dinner. Tammy is the only one who shows up though.

When she gets a phone call from Park Morgan, Brian tells her to invite him to join them. She does, telling Morgan that Brian is someone it wouldn’t hurt to have as a business contact. Morgan arrives and the two have trouble keeping their stories straight when Brian begins asking them about their relationship. Tammy is clearly trying to make it look like a business friendship only. Brian asks if they met while working at Unicon.

Brian continues to ask questions of the two of them while they hold hands secretly under the table. When the conversation turns to marriage we learn that Morgan has always dreamed of getting married. Tammy replies to Brian’s questions telling both men that she likes her life the way it is and has no interest in getting married.

At the Blue House

The President tells CEO Jang that he knows she didn’t want him to be elected. He tells her that he thinks it is really her KU Group who runs Korea and voices frustration at his government’s inability to get past the blockades of the opposition party.

The next day

An irate man bursts into Barro demanding to see the CEO. His photo was uploaded into the street view system without his face being blurred. In the picture he is standing outside of an hourly rate motel with a woman who is not his wife. Because of Barro’s software, he’s been caught in adultery.

The man demands to be compensated for the damage this glitch in the software has caused to his life. After he leaves the office, the team debates the merits of simply paying the man off versus allowing him to sue them. Scarlett opposes paying the man off saying that he got what he deserved.

Tammy disagrees with Scarlett’s assessment that only certain privacies should be respected, but she agrees that they should not pay the man off.

At the racetrack

Oh Jin Woo is at the racing event he had earlier invited his wife to attend with him. She had refused, so he is very surprised when she arrives just in time to provide him with the much-needed excuse to avoid sitting in the VIP box with the President’s son.

Man, I love her outfit here. We so rarely get to see Song Ga Gyeong dressed casually and it’s fantastic! Also, hand-holding… my ship is sailing (sort of).

Meanwhile

Morgan and Ta Mi are on the phone together. He tells her not to worry about what he said about marriage. He can tell that Ta Mi is concerned about it but says that he’s still too young to be thinking about marriage. Ta Mi tells him that she has to worry about it, that it’s getting harder to convince herself to start something when she already knows how it has to end. Morgan says that it’s still too early in their relationship to let their differing views on marriage end things, but Ta Mi disagrees.

Back at the racetrack

Oh Jin Woo and Song Ga Gyeong sit together in the bleachers to watch the races. He asks his wife why she has joined him and she replies that she was grateful to him for buying the webtoon movie rights. Afterward, Oh Jin Woo calls his lawyers telling them to block all pictures of him and his wife together from reaching the media. He bumps into the President’s youngest son who says a lot of very rude things about Song Ga Gyeong. We get to see Oh Jin Woo’s protective (and violent) side come out.

DO NOT insult this man’s wife.

What’s Wrong With My Mother-In-Law?

At the hospital

Cha Hyeon barges into Seol Ji Hwan’s room demanding to know if he had always been scripted to die in the drama. He tells her that he too just found out that his character had died. Cha Hyeon packs her actor up into her car and they head out for the filming location.

Watch out Director-nim!

Cha Hyeon demands to speak to the director, claiming to be Seol Ji Hwan’s manager. The director claims that they had to write the actor out of the drama because he was unable to meet their schedule requirements. Cha Hyeon is unimpressed, to say the least.

The director claims to understand her frustration but says there is nothing they can do since the episode with his death already aired. Cha Hyeon spins a story about a long lost twin brother, one who is kind and good and falls in love with the made-over Mother-in-Law for real. The director isn’t sure about this concept but seems to be mulling it over. Cha Hyeon drops her actor back off at the hospital, telling him that she’ll drive him to the set for a while since she told them she was his manager.

Unicon

Tammy meets with Director Song to discuss the release of writer Go Do Ri. Tammy hands over the evidence she has on Oh Jin Woo’s involvement in the real-time search scandal. Tammy feels that this evidence should be enough currency to buy the writer’s freedom, but also hands it over as a gesture of goodwill.

Her plan works and Director Song allows the writer to go without penalty.

Later

After a piano lesson and life discussion with her friend Jung Da In, Bae Ta Mi meets up with Park Morgan to discuss their relationship. He doesn’t understand why she’s so hung up on their different views about marriage and she can’t understand why he doesn’t see the problem. Ta Mi can’t understand how Morgan can want to continue a relationship that so clearly has to end. His answer is that all relationships end, even marriage must end in either divorce or death.

Morgan tells her to choose this relationship if being together is more important than the obstacles ahead, but Ta Mi tells him that she just can’t make herself step in that direction. As someone who is older and wiser, she just can’t see that being the right choice for him.

Barro

News of the lawsuit against Barro has driven 10 times the traffic to their website. The younger employees wonder if Ta Mi allowed the man to sue them on purpose. She confirms that she did, and now that they’ve gotten the publicity, she decides it’s time to pay for it.

Unicon

Director Song is reading a web article speculating that Unicon is just rolling over while Barro asserts its dominance. She receives a message from her mother-in-law telling her to post an article speculating on a politician’s personal affairs. She replies that she cannot do it.

It doesn’t take long before Director Song’s irate mother-in-law pays a visit to the Unicon offices.

In Director Song’s office, the two have a very heated discussion. Director Song says that Unicon Korea is currently on thin ice with the public and the head office. She says that another wrong step could be the end of Unicon. CEO Jang says that if Unicon can’t help her than it should be destroyed, but Song Ga Gyeong is tired of living under her mother-in-law’s thumb.

Barro

Scarlett and Tammy prepare to meet with the cheater and offer him compensation. Scarlett isn’t happy but Tammy tells her to trust her. The man arrives acting very cocky. But his bravado fades when he reads the compensation document and it is made out to his wife instead of himself. He argues and threatens to continue his lawsuit, but the women of Barro tell him they’re okay with that.

Later

Ta Mi finds Morgan waiting for her outside of the office building. He tells her that he’s been thinking about it and has realized that they really are very different people. The thing that first attracted him to her is the thing that causes her to push him away. He asks her to go on a date with him and they recreate their first night together.

But this time he leaves her at the door. Morgan muses whether things would have been different for them if he had only walked her home on that first night they met. He tells her that he wishes this was their first time meeting and that he’s glad that he met her. He leaves her standing at the door to her apartment.

Tammy pauses in her dark, empty apartment for barely a moment before changing her mind. She runs down the hallway and desperately pushes on the elevator button. The doors slide open…

Final Thoughts:

Finally, we’ve got kissing! I can’t imagine it will be smooth sailing from here since they haven’t actually dealt with their issues, but for now I’ll just enjoy the romance of it. But as much fun as the romances in this drama are, I really love the workplace aspect. I’m so interested in what’s coming for Song Ga Gyeong now that she is standing up to her mother-in-law. Are you interested to see what else is in store for these ladies? Stay tuned!
