Korean Lunch Boxes

I’ve always loved how the lunches in Korean Dramas are so cute. These stackable little boxes, lovingly prepared, always seemed like they’d be pure sunshine to open for lunch. So now that school season is back upon on us, I’ve started the hunt for fun new ideas for lunch. And look, look, look what I’ve found! Aren’t these just the cutest lunch boxes?

Perfect for school, work, or picnics, I love how the insulated bags keep cold foods cold and hot foods hot in any weather.

Electric Hotpot

I love hotpot. I currently have it once a year at a friend’s Lunar New Year party. I want to have it way more frequently. I like the electric hotpot because flames and small children don’t always go well together.

Let’s Make Ramen!: A Comic Book Cookbook by Hugh Amano

A ‘comic book cookbook’ that’s a neat, funny and graphically pleasing look at cooking ramen. Cultural and historical insights are also sprinkled throughout in a light, helpful way. Makes me hungry just looking at it!

Tofu Press

While you don’t necessarily need to press tofu for most Korean dishes, it is really handy to have something that helps cut down on the mess if you do cook with it a lot. If you’ve never made tofu before, it’s packed in water and soaks it up like a sponge. Pressing out excess liquid can give you a drier texture when frying it. I recommend using this tofu press.

Korean Temple Food Cookbook

As a vegan who loves to eat, I’m often faced with the issue that lots of foods, Korean foods in particular, are not particularly vegan or vegetarian friendly. Luckily the book Korean Temple Food is entirely vegan, as it’s the food made by the nuns at Buddhist temples. One day I’d love to go to Korea and do a temple stay, but until then I’ll try to make do with this cookbook.

Maangchi’s Real Korean Cooking: Authentic Dishes for the Home Cook

I bought this cookbook because it had a very high rating on Amazon and I really wanted to try and learn how to cook Korean food. It definitely didn’t disappoint! It has clear instructions and step by step pictures. What is even more fantastic is that since this cookbook was created by a YouTube Star…All of the recipes in this book have instructional videos on her Youtube channel WHICH HAS BEEN GREAT when I wanted to make a recipe. Highly recommend this cookbook as the first Korean cookbook you buy.
