Casting News: Ji Soo and Goo Ha-ra, Nam Joo Hyuk

Ji Soo and Goo Hara cast in “What’s There to Know”

Aw, our puppy is all grown up!  Ji Soo(Moon Lovers) has just accepted his first leading role in “What’s There to Know” a story of a high school student who is given the opportunity to become a professional model.  Can I just say, “Gimme Gimme!” Ji Soo as a model? Yes, please.  This kid has all the schmexy to handle this role while making it as adorable as a wet puppy.

Case in point:

Joining Ji Soo is Goo Ha-ra, former member of girl group “Kara.”  To me Goo Ha-ra will always be the adorable, if not annoying, president’s daughter in City Hunter.  While for most of City Hunter she was trying to win the affections of Lee Min Ho with all her lack of prepubescent charm, the scenes she shared with her dad were bubbling with cuteness and made her role worth remembering.  If she can bring that same adorability to this drama, combined with Ji Soo’s puppydom, we may have a cuteness explosion.  In any case, count me in.

“What’s There To Know” is set to air late in 2018.

Nam Joo Hyuk cast in “Because It’s My First Love”

After a full year away, Nam Joo Hyuk is set to return to the small screen in “Because It’s My First Love,” the story of twenty-somethings finding meaning and maturity in a complicated world.  I have mixed feelings about Nam Joo Hyuk’s acting. His performance in Moon Lovers was middling and Bride of the Water God was a colossal letdown, but then Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo was delicious perfection.   Where Nam Joo Hyuk seems to shine is in slice of life moments, so with that in mind I am cautiously optimistic about Because It’s My First Love.

That being said, directing “Because It’s My First Love” is Oh Jin Seok, the PD from Yong-Pal and My Sassy Girl (the drama,) both of which had an uneven pace.  So, change my cautiously optimistic to cautiously cynical.

“Because It’s My First Love” is set to air in late 2018.
